On Thursday, Dara Khosrowshahi, the chief executive officer of the ride-hailing service business Uber, stated that he did not have any current plans to implement any company-wide layoffs.
The ridesharing and delivery company has been working to cut costs for months, early enough relative to others that a memo the CEO wrote on this tougher stance ‘landed a bit like a lead balloon initially,’ Khosrowshahi said at a Wall Street Journal event that was held on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum. Khosrowshahi was speaking at an event that was held in conjunction with the World Economic Forum.
According to Reuters, he suggested that within the next 12 to 15 years, self-driving technology may be implemented in as much as 20% of Uber’s automobile fleet.
The CEO of Uber stated that the business is interested in talking to manufactures about the possibility of developing automobiles that are specifically designed for ride sharing.
