Amazon launched Amazon Air, its dedicated air cargo fleet, in India on January 23, its fourth market outside the United States, Canada, and Europe to have the capacity to expedite delivery.

The company has leased two Boeing 737-800s from Bengaluru-based Quikjet Cargo Airlines, which will operate the two aircraft.

“Our investment in Amazon Air will further enhance our customers’ delivery experience in India.” In addition, the launch will help over 1.1 million sellers in India, encouraging growth in ancillary industries such as transportation and aviation, according to Akhil Saxena, Amazon’s Vice President of Customer Fulfillment for the APAC, MENA, and LATAM regions.

He stated that one cargo aeroplane might carry up to 20,000 packages. Quikjet would use the two aircraft to haul cargo to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai.

Amazon stated that it was the first e-commerce company in India to develop a specialised air freight network, hence reducing delivery times.

According to Abhinav Singh, Director of Customer Fulfillment, Supply Chain, and Amazon Transportation Services at Amazon India, the planes will fly on two routes and their frequency would vary based on order volume.

During occasions of high order volume, such as Diwali, Singh stated that they might make additional journeys if necessary. He noted that even during the hectic holiday season, clients would be able to purchase additional items in the future.
